Remembering Doug

A very important part of our UK travels was a ceremony to remember Doug. Julia and Sarah joined us in Wales and we walked together to Llyn Idwal. We shared memories and lots of laughs, surrounded by nature.

Julia wrote a lovely description of the ceremony, including:

“The weather was beautiful, blue sky, sunshine and little puffy clouds.  The mountains were stunning in their green summer mantel. It was all so crystalline clear with no mist. We climbed right up to Llyn Idwal lake and found the perfect place.  A small aircraft came over the top of the mountain as if in a flypast, a blackbird flew across from the small island (dad always said he wanted to come back as a blackbird), and as we looked into the water there were hundreds of minnows basking in the shallows to welcome him!!! What a send off.”

The month also included a meaningful visit with Jean, Sam and Phil. We had a lovely meal and afternoon together.

In the Lake District, Will walked to one of Doug’s favourite spots and slept on the hillside. A way to remember him, with many more to come.
