Last Fall
I found some old posts I never actually posted-- catching up!
Last September, Ben started at St. Catherine's school. I took the first photo below as part of a parent paparazzi peering through his classroom window on the first day. He likes his teacher a lot, and now, toward the end of the year, can draw actual pictures, speak in a short french sentence, and do simple addition. They have done so many different activities involving the numbers 1 though 10 that his teacher must be loosing her mind. There is a photo of Ben's art wall in late fall, and also a photo of Ben and his friends at his 5th birthday party. Currently, Iris and Callum are still good friends, and he is making friends with a little boy called Marc. Ben learned to swim this winter during fantastic local swimming lessons, and has recently developed a real love of Lego.
Maizie Mayem continued at the same daycare, traveling back and forth nearly every day with Will. On Tuesday and Thursdays she had "nana days" which she loved. Her language skills this year were incredible. It sometimes feels like talking to a 4-year-old. She shares information about her day "I play with Nelope in the mud kitchen", and tries to join every conversation we have as a family, often my imitating exactly what Ben says. She is VERY independent: "I do it", while stomping her left foot, but also goes with the flow relatively well. She is helpful, and has the cheekiest little chuckle when she's happy.
Since I've taken forever to write this blog post, many of my family memories of this fall and winter are of holidays: Ben's birthday, Hallowe'en, Thanksgiving, and of course, Christmas. A lot of nice times with family and friends.

Lovely blog, Helen. You're both wonderful parents. They do grow up fast, don't they?
