Pasties and Sandcastles in Swanage
After Rome, we traveled to the south of England and rented a cottage in Swanage for 10 days. It was right on the beach, and even had it's own "firehall" (the room below).
Will took some wonderful photos from the cottage window- these are just a few of my favourites. It was nice to hear the waves all day long.
Our first visitor to the cottage was my aunt Susan. We had a lovely, sunny walk (Clara loved crawling in the grass for the first time!) and Susan treated Ben to his own sand bucket and watering can. Next time, we hope to make it to her new home in Paignton.
Next, Maggie, Eileen, Jessica and Lauren arrived. Ben had sleepovers with Lauren in the firehall and roped us all into riding on his train (below). We went to Will's favourite pub in the world for pasties and cider and hiked down to the sea. On another day we visited the steam train and a clay mine. Ben also enjoyed his first ride on a horse.

We also spend a few sunny days with Doug and Jean. Ben loved Corfe castle and it was exciting to ride on a real steam train. He is very interested in playing dice games right now, and Doug played many a round of the Penguin game (bless him!). Leaving Swanage was easier than it could have been because we knew we'd be meeting up with people again over the next few weeks.
