Memories of summer
How is it November already? Time to think about sunny lakes, balconies, and wine... I thought we'd share some of our favourite pictures from our trip to Ontario and Quebec in August. We decided that it was definitely a trip as opposed to a vacation, as Ben kept us on our toes most of the time. We started off in Peterborough visiting Aimee, her super cool root cellar, and her friend's amazing cottage. Peterborough was a surprisingly kid-friendly place, and it was great to see how nicely Aimee had settled into her place (Aimee- I miss the Haiku chair daily!).
Then, we spent a lovely weekend at Jenn's cottage. Ben was very happy walking around "a-naked" and throwing rocks into the lake, and Clara had lots of adoring fans. I managed to kayak confidently for the first time (if only for 15 minutes), Will swam, boated and enjoyed Gin and Tonics, and we taught Ben his first card game (Move on Back!). We also met Jenn's man, Kip- an excellent addition to the cottage crew.
Our next stop was Montreal, where re rented a condo close to Stephanie's. We were so fortunate to have friends visit from far away. Monica from San Francisco, Alice and little Xavier from Calgary- "Our friend Julian" (as Ben called him) even flew over from England for the weekend just to see us. We had some very nice evenings on the balcony, and even felt like non-parents once the sun went down. The second picture gives a great sense of both the company and the chaos. The phone is a great way to stay in touch, but it felt really nice to see everyone in person.

I can't resist ending this post with a photo of us on our 24 hour train ride home...
