Ben is two!

We've been meaning to post some pictures from the end of summer and Ben's birthday for a long time. Life must be racing past a bit too quickly! This post starts with some pictures from the summer. We had a lovely visit from Aimee, which involved a "Biking and Viking" party (as we cycled to the party, some kids pointed to us and said, "look mom, bunnies!"), and the chance to go out on a real date to my friend Anna's wedding while Aimee looked after our little man.

After Aimee's visit, I traveled on my own to a conference in Montreal. It was wonderful to see Stephanie (pictured here about to put the final touches on her Master's thesis, which she has since completed with flying colours). It was a bit surreal to travel on my own, and a nice treat.

In September, we had a very nice visit from my dad. One of the most interesting things we did was to visit the Bedford Institute of Oceanography's open day, which takes place only once every 5 years. Dad got to spend lots of quality time with Little B, and we enjoyed his help and company.

This fall has also been the season of roadworks outside of our house. All the water pipes in the street have been replaced, and it's been digger heaven for Ben. I think he looks very English in this picture- and very naughty in the next one!

To end this post, we thought we'd share some pictures and a video from Ben's birthday. We can't believe that he's 2 already!

Since Ben's special day, we've had at least one future-post worth of other adventures- including my mom moving here (yippee!) and a great visit from Doug. More to come when time temporarily slows down again. Happy fall to everyone!

  1. Hey Helen,
Great updates. The viking biking looks like so much fun and Ben seems so happy at his birthday. I also really like that picture of you and Will at the wedding!
Not sure if it's just me or something is wrong with the video, but when I click on the video it says that it is private and so I can't watch it.
