October 2010
October was one of the most amazing months of our lives, as we welcomed baby Ben! He was born a few weeks earlier than expected, on September 30th, and charmed us from the first moment.
We headed home after three days in the hospital and were lucky to have my mom stay with us for a few weeks. During that time we managed to get out to a pumpkin boat racing festival, and to celebrate Ben's 0th birthday. Mom made sure that we ate well and helped me to get some much needed sleep. Thank goodness for grandparents!
From week 2 to week 4, Ben got better at eating and lifting up his head, and I could swear we've seen a few smiles. We enjoyed a visit from Will's mom, who helped us to take Ben to the ocean twice! Jenn also visited briefly and introduced Ben to literature. Ben has also started to make very cute happy noises, which counteract his evening not-so-happy noises. This past weekend he celebrated his first Hallowe'en and his first play date. We already couldn't imagine life without him. Thanks to all of Ben's friends and family for the welcoming cards, messages, and gifts!

Yay!!! What a lovely blog and blog entry! I'm so excited that you're writing one. I love all the photos of grandparents, your friends, and Ben's first friend....who is that, by the way? Keep up the entries and I'll keep reading!
ReplyDeleteAmazing! It's really cool that you guys are doing this; I'd like to visit but it doesn't seem to feasible in the short-term -- let's aim for a phone call, perhaps, to start?
ReplyDeleteBut Ben is beautiful, and it's a lovely change of pace during a tough time of year (dark, cold weather + looming report card deadline + back-log of marking + restless mid-semester students = one grouchy girl). Gorgeous photos of a lovely young family... Thanks for sharing!
What a great idea! I can't wait to see more!! Keep them coming... Vanessa
