Nnnnniort! (by Helen)
After cycling through gorgeous French towns, we got to spend a weekend in one with Sarah and her family. They moved to Niort from Canada four month ago and are already settled into school and work. These photos are from outside their home- the pair of pictures makes it seem as though their youngest can beam down from the sky.
It was great to catch up with Sarah and to meet Christophe and the kids. We ate delicious French food, like galettes and ratatouille, and Christophe could answer all of our questions about France (eg, let’s talk about shutters… ).
We got to see what life is like here, with a trip to the library, the weekend market, and local playgrounds. We even got to participate in a school pick-up and hear what the girls are served for lunch, which is très different from school lunches in Canada. They use bikes instead of a car, and have a very fun electric bike.
What a treat to wake up in a room in the French county side and spend the days exploring with friends.

And what a treat to have you as our first Canadian guests! We loved having you.
