Family and friends

I wanted to start this post with one of my favorite pictures, in memory of my granddad, who passed away recently. I wasn't able to travel to the funeral, but have been thinking of him a lot. Ben was born on his birthday, 90 years later, which is pretty special. We'll miss him.

Before the next little person arrives, we wanted to post some pictures from the past few months. We've had a wonderful time visiting with friends and family recently. In early March, Helen travelled to Calgary for a conference, staying a few extra days to visit with Alice, Ben and little Xavier. The weather was sunny, the conference was fantastic, and there were lots of opportunities to see other special people (Alexandra, Miles, and Helen and their kids). If only Calgary were closer to Halifax!

While Helen was out west, Maggie arrived from England. Ben enjoyed spending time with "Nanna Maggie"- (lots of puzzles, trains, cooking and playing while we were at work!) and the team made the best of the cold weather. Will and Maggie had a true Canadian road trip one weekend, with snowshoeing, maple syrup and log cabins.

For Easter weekend, Stephanie came to visit. She took some fabulous pictures during her time here. It was really nice showing Stephanie the east coast for the first time- and helped me to remember that we have nice places close by (lighthouses, sea, burgers- fantastic!). I miss her already, and hope to make it to Montreal before too long.

By the next time I write, Flanababy #2 will likely have arrived. I'm so glad that my mom will be here to help during the early weeks- and we'll have other family visiting soon afterward she's born. We're bracing ourselves for the next phase, and just about ready for the challenge!
